Moving forward

Today, Thursday, I had an 8am appt. today with Dr. Looby, the plastic surgeon. He checked my two drains and declared "#2 can come out" and so it did! It was quick and painless. Now I am down to one dangling appendage. :-) I also get to take real showers - no more sponge bathes. Yahoo!
We had been having difficulties getting connected with the main surgeon's office, due to weather and some inter-office issues, so Dr. Looby also gave me the pathology reports and some explanation of them. They took all the breast tissue and all the margins around the tumor were negative for cancer. They also took 13 lymph nodes instead of the initial 3, and of the 13 only one had signs of cancer in it. I like those odds. :-)
So now I have an appt. Tuesday afternoon with Dr. Zakem, the oncologist, and will go back on Thursday to see Dr. Looby about the final drain.
As for the other days next week, I expect to be home. I can not drive while taking some of these pain meds so I will be at Al and Andrew's mercy!
Thank you for your prayers and the prayers of the people you partner with at church and in your community. That really means a lot to me. I have a great peace about what the Lord is doing through this all.

  2. Praise the Lord, Mary! This is great news!

I hope that your experience with Dr. Zakem is a good one. He was my doctor as well as my dad's and we loved him! I know that you are in good hands.

We are continuing to pray for you and will continue our prayers for Al and Andrew (Annie too!)

  3. Keeping grinning Mike and Sherri, it's great to know that prayers are going up from another continent as well as just Michigan! Continue to pray for Al, I think I am tiring him out. ;-)
